We’re straightforward about how this site operates financially because transparency matters, and we’re too old to bother with being cagey about it.

Naturally Built is run by people with day jobs who aren’t experts but have a strong interest in eco building, biophilic design, and sustainable living. No one’s getting rich from this site. We do this because we’re passionate about it, but keeping a website running costs money—hosting fees, domain registration, the occasional equipment purchase when something breaks.

To help cover those costs without a paywall or plastering the site with obnoxious ads, we use affiliate links.

If you click a link on our site and buy something, we might earn a small commission. That commission doesn’t cost you anything extra—you pay the same price anyway—but it gives us a few pounds to keep the lights on at naturallybuilt.co.uk. We’re talking small amounts here. Nobody’s quitting their day job over affiliate earnings from an eco-building site.

Our Affiliate Programs

We’re currently working with or may occasionally use these affiliate programs:

  • Affiliate Window (Awin)

  • FlexOffers

  • Commission Junction (CJ)

  • ShareASale

  • Webgains

We also use Google AdSense for some ads on the site. If you’re running an ad blocker, we won’t judge you—we use them too in certain situations.

Our Recommendations

What’s important: we only link to products and materials that we actually know about, have experience with, or genuinely think are worth considering. We don’t write articles because of affiliate opportunities. We’re not getting paid to shill products or accepting money for positive reviews.

If we link to something, there’s a reason. Maybe we’ve tested reclaimed timber suppliers for a biophilic project and found them reliable. Maybe we’ve used natural insulation in a real build and it performed well. Maybe we’ve recommended lime plaster because it solved a moisture issue in an eco-renovation. The point is there’s actual experience behind any recommendation.

Our Guiding Rule

Basic rule: if it doesn’t align with what we’d actually tell a friend asking for sustainable building advice, it doesn’t go on the site. We’re not maximising affiliate revenue by promoting whatever pays the highest commission. We’re sharing useful information about eco-building, natural materials, and biophilic design—and sometimes that includes pointing to specific suppliers or products we’ve used.

Not a Sales Platform

We’re definitely not a sales platform disguised as content. The goal is to write about sustainable construction, share experiences with green materials, document real-world eco-building from people immersed in it. If that occasionally involves affiliate links to cover costs, it seems reasonable.

If you’d rather not use our links, that’s fine—search directly on sites you prefer. No guilt trips. We appreciate you reading about eco-building from mid-40s enthusiasts who prioritise natural, healthy homes.

You’re welcome to ask about specific links or products. Want more on our experience, earnings from it, or better alternatives? Reach out to admin@naturallybuilt.co.uk—we’re happy to explain.

Bottom line: we use affiliate marketing to cover costs at naturallybuilt.co.uk. We only link to things we know about or believe are worth considering for eco-projects. We’re not here to sell unnecessary gear or push overpriced sustainable materials just for a commission. If you use our links, thanks—those small earnings help us keep debating limewash vs clay plaster or whatever builds we’re tackling this week.
